Environmentally Friendly Wood Flooring

At Floorworld we are proud to be members of both the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) and Pan European Forest Certification (PEFC). We are the only flooring company in the UAE to hold such accreditations.

As more and more pressure is being put on the world’s resources, we should all play our part to help where we can. At Floorworld our attitude towards flooring and the environment is the basis for our ecological approach. We believe Mother Nature is the ultimate beauty and we respect what nature has given us to develop and hold in trust. With this in mind, we are proud to present and source products from the only largest European-based wood flooring manufacturers. Our range of flooring options includes many of the world’s most beautiful species from the most exciting parts of the globe all taken from sustainable forest with plentiful and renewable resources. Our wood flooring and the manufacturer’s whom we source from are independently certified in accordance with the rules set by the Forest Stewardship Council and carry a chain of custody and are fully FSC and PEFC certified. All our wood waste is recycled, saving it from landfill.

Our ranges of multi-layer construction of Engineered flooring from Quickstep and Swiss Hardwoods gives the exact same appearance of a solid wood floor but with a thinner wear layer it reduces the amount of wood wastage while providing a beautiful hardwood floor that will last for decades. The oil finish on the surface of Swiss Hardwoods is a super safe oil that has zero volatile organic compound (VOC’s) that aids air quality, ensuring the health and wellbeing of all our customers.

Vinyl flooring and indoor air quality

Our Luxury Vinyl Tiles from Gerbür, Amtico and Karndean are manufactured using 100% recyclable PVC material. Independently tested and certified, all our ranges of luxury vinyl tiles are certified by Floorscore® and exceed all EEC regulations. Our ranges of Luxury Vinyl Tiles pass all clean air guidelines and are low in volatile organic compounds and are certified allergen free.

Health risks associated with Laminate Flooring

Studies by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have shown that laminate flooring which has high concentrations of formaldehyde can be cancergenic. Not only is this a huge concern for those who are tempted to purchase low quality laminate flooring, it can also lead to immediate health problems such as irritation to the eyes, nose and throat as well as cause breathing problems for people with pre-existing health conditions like asthma. Irritation and breathing problems can happen in anyone, but studies have shown that children, older adults, and people with asthma or other breathing problems are more likely to have these symptoms. At Floorworld we value the health of our employees and the health of our customers greatly. Our ranges of laminate flooring from Quickstep, Gerbür and Pergo are sourced from managed and renewable forestry and produced under the strictest of safety guidelines, complying with all EEC rules and regulations.

We only ever source and sell laminate flooring that is low in formaldehyde and from reputable manufacturers.
